the simple fact is most people dont know the principles of why a higher octane gas is needed in certain situations.

I live in orlando and 90% of places just have 87, 89, and 93, a few have have 87, 89, 91, and 93.

Could have been super high octane though if you were over by State Road 50. That is where the drag strip is.

I used to live in Daytona and there were a couple places you could get 100 unleaded.

From what I've seen (at least in the Tampa area), the 91 octane is only at a few (not all) 7-11's.

Thereare a few 7-11 gas stations that will have 87,89,91,92, & 93 (it might be 88 instead of 92) octane here in the orlando area. Very rare though. I've only seen probably two stations, one being very close to an apartment I used to live at (in oviedo for anyone familiar with the area).

Hey guys, this question of mine is related to this octane thing...
Here in Europe we only have 95 and 98 octanes or diesel. Do you know if i could get a CAI + TUNER from brenspeed or bamachips and have then a 98 or 95 tune?

How many HP increase? (Aprox)

Im just asking cause im considering doing it but wont have any warranty or people to help me out if something goes wrong with it back in Europe, so if it doesnt increase big Hp I wont do it.

Thanks!

If you have 98 octane at the pump, I would go FI. Get yourself a supercharger or a turbo and you can run alot of timing.

Probably get another 25rwhp easy than we can here with 93.

But to answer your question yes, I would get a CAI and tune at a minimum.

Just get on a dyno with datalogging when you first get it to make sure all is well, and you shouldnt have a problem.

If you do just send Brenspeed the data and they can update it.

On a side note congrats on driving a stang in the Europe, nice to know some people get it over there and isnt as stupid as Jeremy Clarkson, he just doesnt get it.

If anyone is curious go to youtube and search Good the Bad and The Ugly. It is a special, like top gear, all about american cars. He hates corvettes, mustangs and just about anything else american. He also doesnt know much about cars, he drives a V6 stang but says its a V8, then talks about its lack of power [:@].

The system for octane rating in Europe is different than in the US. There are two methods for calculating octane, the Research method and the Motor method. They produce different numbers for the same gas. In the US, what's displayed on the pump is R+M/2, I.E., the average of the Research and the Motor numbers. In Europe, the Research number is used. This results in higher octane numbers in Europe for the same gas.

I would call brenspeed or bamachips and ask them if they can adjust their tunes for European gas. It might be as simple as your 98 = our 93 or something like that. Or maybe not.

Here's some technical details if you're interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating

Has anyone ever ran 103 in their stang? Did it perform different?
Running a higher octane than is required by whatever tune you have loaded accomplishes nothing. The car will run the same. If you load a tune that takes advantage of the higher octane, then it will make a difference. The octane rating is simply how well the gasoline resists predetonation. The higher octane tunes advance the timing to take advantage of this. Running higher octane without changing the tune just means that the gas has even less chance of causing the engine to knock.
