Default Florida gas

I've been meaning to ask this since we got back from a trip to Florida, but just never got around to it. I stopped to get gas in Orlando, and there were five different octane grades on the pump. I don't remember which ones, but there were five of them. Is that normal for Florida? Why so many?

No, it was 5 different grades of gas plus diesel. Okay, well, it must have just been that one station.

It varies according to what area of Texas you're in. Here in Dallas, we have 87, 89, and 93. I haven't seen 91 here. In the western regions - Midland/Odessa and further west, they have 87, 89, and 91. I haven't seen 93 out there. And I have seen 86 and even 85 in El Paso.

Not all stations but some carry racing fuel. So that's 87,89,91,93 and 103. There are a few racetracks around here.

Has anyone ever ran 103 in their stang? Did it perform different?

Oh wow; changing the octane in the fuel is like changing the CAI to a larger one. It won't work without a tune. In fact the engine will reduce power because now it's running on the wrong gas and and maybe even need to kick into safety mode in addition to the fuel not burning correctly and producing less power at the wheel.

Your engine could go as far as to give off codes that you are running rich like I said if things are too out of wack. If it gets really bad (like 150 octane) your engine will have an overflow detonation which will blow up your entire car... fuel will collect in your cylinders and eventually overflow to the point where it blows the entire car up or more likley part of it...

If you know anything about octane, you know it is by the principles of how engines work that the mustang will produce around 52 hp more than stock with 103.
