Default Another D3 question.

So Im posting this in here since it gets way more traffic. I just purchased my AVIC D3 and today picked up the dash kit and harness. I got the dash kit from American International as well as the harness. SOOOO much nicer than the metra junk. Anyways, the harness came with a resister and says to solder inline with the remote wire to keep from popping. Am I correct in assuming that does the same thing as the 5v voltage regulator that everyone was using?

Awesome. I also remember seeing somewhere a while back about wiring up the dimmer for when you turn on the headlights over behind the headlight switch, but theres an orange/white wire for the dimmer right on both harnesses. Why were people doing it the other way?

I have no idea. I never hook up the dimmer. I just use the dimmer on the unit itself.

The wire from the car is some non-standard voltage that only seems to work with the factory radio.

^Oh ok. Ill probably just end up not worrying about it. I dont know how bright it is at night, but if it bugs me, then Ill wire it up.

It's very bright at night. I only let it go for 1 night before running that wire for the dimmer. It can be kind of distracting.

... you can dim the unit within the unit itself without that wire being connected.
