Another D3 question.

... you can dim the unit within the unit itself without that wire being connected.

So Im posting this in here since it gets way more traffic. I just purchased my AVIC D3 and today picked up the dash kit and harness. I got the dash kit from American International as well as the harness. SOOOO much nicer than the metra junk. Anyways, the harness came with a resister and says to solder inline with the remote wire to keep from popping. Am I correct in assuming that does the same thing as the 5v voltage regulator that everyone was using?

Also, where did you guys mount your GPS antenna? Im thinking about putting it in the center of the dash up by the windshield, but I dont know how well that would work. I dont want to mount it on the outside due to alot of ******** out there who will **** with it. lol
It's sort of an insult to those of us who take the time to make a nice walkthrough on things like this and then you ask a question that is answered inside itself.

Although I do appreciate the link. I didnt realize the VSS wire was necessary until I saw your pics and did a quick search on avic411. I know you dont have to do it, but it improves the accuracy. Now Im going to hook it up. haha
I've ran my Z2 without the VSS for a long time with no problems. I guess I'm lucky. I mounted my GPS Antenna in the headliner on a piece of folded up tin foil. I 7/8 signal strength !![8D]
The search function on any forum is mostly worthless unless you know exactly how things are spelt and what not. But there are two stickies with a HUGE amount of information which works way better than any search.
