Default Wounded Horse

I was leaving work on Friday and was in the fast lane on the Hwy99 following a V6 Mustang with cars all around me. We were all following at equal safe distance, but before I knew it the Mustang in front of me ran over a large chunk of tire recap that cheap truckers continue to riddle our Hwy's with, and shot it into my windshield like a pitching machine. There was little time to react, and not one single way to avoid the flying projectile, so all I could do was turn my face down and away as it flew towards my face. The large piece of tire recap slid across the top portion of the hood and smacked the windshield with insane force, sounding like an aluminum bat as it hit pushing the window flush with my dashboard. When the retread hit the window it slapped around the pillar ripping the rear view mirror off, luckily my side window was down which avoided shattering that window as well. I had glass and mirror fragments in my hair, arm, and hand; nothing to major, only more irritation (literal and emotional). I contacted my insurance immediately after it occurred to report the claim, but I think I can honestly repair this for far less, and avoid being penalized on my insurance policy. The entire ordeal is just crappy luck, considering I have been driving my "dump" truck to work each day to conserve gas, and the Friday I decide to take it to work, this crap happens. People asked if I got the license of the Mustang that shot the retread into my face, but I would feel like an *** to pursue it, and the poor guy wouldn't even have a clue what happened, thus equaling more bad Karma.

Yeah, the only body damage was on the pillar which is a faint dent as the picture depicts when the light is right, but I have a friend who does paintless dent removals who said he can take care of it. I doubt that the hwy is ever picked up.

Sorry to see that. I say you made the right call not going after the guy, I'd just chalk this up as crappy luck.

I was driving on a bridge one day and the same thing happen to me but I escaped unscathed. One time a truck lost an air hose and it skipped along my hood. That was the last time I had the hood repainted because of a dent and whatever. $hit happens...$hit!

I don't think he could go after the guy. The cops would have said you need to leave enough space between you and the vehicle in front of you so that you have enough time to react. At least that is what I recall from driving school 15 years ago.

That's too bad man! But on the bright side maybe you can swing the Agent 47 mirrors to replace the stock truck size mirrors.
