The cost of making them functional wouldn't be worth the benefit of having them funtional. IMO

The rear brakes on a street car are not even close to overheat, even if you drive like a maniac!!
But lotsa Vette people add the Z06 rear brake cooling ducts to their cars. And you know Corvette people never put anything on their cars that is not functional. [:-]

Unless you want to make a duplicate of a race car, it's totally a waste of time and money.

In any case, the front ones will fail before the rear ones.
You will also fail before the brakes... cops, wrecks etc...

This car here, is a Ford factory built race car, that won the Euro GT4 class last year against the best Europe has to offer: Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, Aston Martin, BMW etc...
Mustang FR500C FTMFW! Litteraly!
It has stock rear brakes with just a good set of pads, period (the front is a different story)
It does also endurance racing, 12/24 hour races on the same set-up!

For those of you out there that spend a lot of money on rear brakes.... either you ********** too much, or you're doing it for looks. Nothing wrong with either reasons.

Hey, what's that sensor in the diff cover? I don't recall seeing it on my car last time I was under there.

What is it, a gear oil temp sensor to monitor heat build-up in the rear end??

that is what it is, I think... or it could be a low level sensor.
