Default leaking problems?

I've read many a thread about leaking issues about the s197s. Now this being my first Stang I haven't seen anything out of the ordinary ::knock on wood::, but what eaxactly would I be looking for if I do get leakage of anything?

Most people get a puddle of water in the passenger side footwell. Or a damp carpet in that area. Other people hear sloshing sounds. It seems to be coming through a couple different places. There's some links in my signature that could help you.

+1 I had the damp but not drenched passenger side floor mat, and when I was going up hill, I heard the slight sloshing sound. One trip to the dealer, thank God, and it seems to be fixed. There has been alot of rain here lately (NJ), sometimes heavy, and I've not had a drop in the car since the dealer fix.

I used to read the leak threads, and thought "whew, my car's okay". Well, after 17,000 miles and a year and a half of ownership, I thought I was safe but thats when the leak finally showed up.

Ford has a TSB on it, do a search, or look in the sticky threads for it.

haha. well being that i'm a first time owner, i wouldn't know what the leaks were about. could've been oil, transmission fluid, etc. etc. right now i'm at 8,704 miles, so i should be expecting this around the same mileage as you Jim? can I just go to the stealership now and tell them?

I wouldn't put a guarantee on when it would leak, if at all, but you could be proactive about it if you want and have the TSB work done. I noticed the work when I changed my cabin air filter yesterday. Basically, the plastic cowl cover has tabs that go into slots in the cowl itself (below the wipers under the black plastic panel). They put this black, sticky tar like compound around each hole, and in some seams in the corners. Do a search on passenger side water leaks, you'll find some pics by forum members.
