Default Gauges

I have a Whipple HO kit on its way and was wondering which gauges are the most important to get. Obviously I want to get the boost gauge but what other gauge should I get at this point and why? I have an SOS pillar on its way and its the double gauge one.

if you get 1 more gauge, make it a wide band a/f, for safety making sure the a/f ratio is where it should be. the boost you can have mechanical.

Im getting Boost/Vac, Fuel Pressure, and Air/Fuel Ratio. You could always put one in your air vent or between the 2 middle ones.

i got mine from jegs but i got the SOS pilarpod form lethal, i compared gauges to lethal, and it just depends what style/brand, i ended up w/ z series autometer gauges (i wanted some plain black gauges), which lethal didnt have. in general, i dont think one site is cheaper than another.

Nope I'l looked around for gauges too and they all seemed to be the same prices for the most part. I ended up getting boodst A/F ratio and fuel gauges full swept electric (autometer full swept electric) from lethal. If you do end up getting A/F gauges make sure it actually tells you what it's at. None of those gauges that only tell you if your rich or lean for 60 bucks, you need to weld in a bung and plug in the sensor in your exhaust, or else it's basically a light show and wont be very useful.

Those are quite expensive. Couldnt you just judge your air/fuel ratio by your fuel pressure? I might be totally wrong (trying to learn so dont get all worked up if I'm incorrect)

the WB a/f gauge will be a lot more accurate than going w/ the fuel pressure alone. the fuel pressure gauge will tell you how the fuel pump is working, but the WB a/f will tell you what the ratio between air and fuel, most importantly at WOT. i believe the WB a/f is the most important gauge to get for safety purpose in a FI setup and for tuning, if you are going to do datalogging. even if you tune on a dyno the bung welded into the exhaust will be more accurate than putting a sniffer at the end of the exaust. IMO if you got money for a SC, a few hundred bucks more is not that much to keep an eye on your investment. yes, those gauges are expensive, but it eases my mind knowing everything is working correctly.

Your absolutely right. Another question though, is it ok to use the mechanical boost/vac gauge or should I go electric with that as well. Im getting the electric fuel pressure guage trying to save some money for some Mickeys.
