Default Stereo Guru's--Need Help!!!! Please.

Just got the Kenwood DNX5120 from Al & Ed's. I went to only look, but well, umm, I couldn't fight off the salesperson. Got the AI dash kit and wiring harnes that comes with a 1.5 volt resistor that is supposed to work with the amped units. The guy mentioned I will need it since I have the Shaker 500. I am asking all the guys/girls who have done this for your rides to chime in with whatever help, tricks, shortcuts, longcuts, etc. I know I could have saved 100-130 if I would have gotten it off e-bay, but I got it from an authorized dealer with some recourse should something go wrong with a valid warranty. What are your guys feeling about that? Thanks in advance.
