never use a pressure washer anywhere near a car, as far as I am concerned. For engine cleaning, there are 3 major options, and it depends how bad it is and also how clean you want it to be:

Steam cleaning: a good way to start cleaning a really messy/greasy engine compartment
[sm=icon_rofl.gif]So never pressure wash but its ok to use high pressure steam, you kill me!!

Its all in the owner's manual, it even has an illustration to show which components to cover, or "bag off" before cleaning.
