Default lease pricing?

My brother is in need of a new car sooner rather than later. It would stink to buy a GT now though since there will be a new one in 1.5 years (he has the ability to buy one cash though). Since they can be had with the options he wants for $23k, what would be a fair lease price?

I know you probably don't want to hear this, but leasing would be a horrible option for a mustang. Disregarding the whole lease vs. own debate, one of the great joys of having a mustang would be *modifying* (modding) it to one's personal tastes. With a lease, one would NOT be able to mod the car at all and still be within the terms of the lease.

The lease would be because he is in need of a new car, there isn't too much he likes in the $30k-actual-price range. The new Mustang will be out shortly, so a 3 year lease of a GT now and then a purchase of the new GT when that comes out would do him nicely.

a lot of variables to a lease...probably around 375 a month, with little to zero down, with good credit that is

so tell him buy one now, pay it off quickly and use it as a trade in, leasing a car is THE WORST possible way to have a vehicle, you make all these payments for 3 years and end up with NOTHING in the end

He wouldn't need to make payments on it, so no pay it off quickly problem. I didn't realize those were the prices they were offering for leasing. For a car you can pick up for $23k after artful haggling, those are pretty bad lease prices.

As it turns out, he ended up in one of our old BMWs, which will hold him over until the new Mustang comes out (and hopefully it won't lose the feel of the current one, which in my opinion is the first one to feel how it should in manyMustang generations).

My 08 GT premium convertible stickered at $37,395

X-Plan price was $34,529

With Ford and Ford Motor Credit rebates, and $3000 totaldrive-off my 24 monthlease is $314 per month

With a $0 drive-off it would have been $439 a month

By the way, lease=no irreversible mods! I've done some mods. If I decide to turn the car back in I can always take them off and resell them on eBay. Leasing can be a good deal if you know exactly what you are getting yourself into. It all depends upon what you want.
