Hurst Shifter Install Problem

Hurst Shifter Install Problem
Hey guys,
I just finished the install on my Hurst shifter last night, but I have a question. The instructions from Hurst have a flaw. Once you get the hurst shifter in and everything, the instructions tell you to attach the longer side of the bottom of the shifter shaft to the transmission linkage rod on the PASSENGER side, however, on that same page there is a picture example of this, and they have it reversed. We decided to do the longer side on the DRIVER side like the picture had it. Everything seems fine, but when I try to shift into 2nd hard ( like when WOT ) it catches really hard and gives me a bad vibration in the shifter, that's the only gear though. Also when I'm driving normal it's perfectly fine. Basically I need to know what everyone has theirs set to. Basically which side do you have the grooves that are on the shifter shaft facing? Thanks...
Oh and I tried search but it still seems to be down, so sorry if this is a common thing already...

Step 23 is how it should be. You say you do have it this way and you are positive correct?

Yea we have it that way for sure. So if it is right this way, does the shifter just need to be broken in before I can shift hard? It only happened once last night but I tried to throw it into 2nd and it went but it vibrated hard and grinded a little bit. It wasn't driver error, it was definitely the shifter...

Posted 16 seconds later. Hmmmmm
Multiple posts wont get multiple answers.
It should mimic the OEM shifter rods position.
Review the pics you took before removing the
OEM shifter. The Hurst should be the same.

The shifter should notbe anydifferent going into 2nd than the OEM one.
Is this the old style or new style Hurst shifter?
Does it have shifter stops and are they adjusted properly?
Do you have the same problem with 4th gear?

I'm not sure what the old styles and new styles are but its the Hurst Competition Plus from Brenspeed... and no i don't think it had shifter stops, atleast nothing adjustable that I knew of... granted I am a newbie and this was my first time I may have had them and didn't even know.... but no 4th gear is perfect, the only gear I have that problem in is 2nd

So I was looking over those pictures Boozshey linked me to.... does the transmission linkage rod go into the SHORTER end of the shifter arm??? meaning that the linkage rod stays on the passenger side no matter what? if so we did it wrong, because we put the longer end towards the DRIVERS side as well as put the tranmission linkage rod on that side....

If so, its the older shifter. The newer Hurst
is made of aluminum. The older style is so
much like the OEM in construction, there cant
be any benifits other than the looks for the
passengers compartment and the shorter throw.
The shifter bottom is offset. Rotate the shorter end to the passenger side of the car. Secure the 13mm nut onto the shift rod stud.
