I made the mistake of trying to polish mine first and it wasn't coming out even so I decided to paint them. The first one, (the one I polished ) is startign to chip. The second one is still holding up good. If you do this, make sure you sand the valve covers lightly before you prime. This will make the paint adhere better.

Here's a link to my write up if any of you are interested.

I did mine at night over the course of a week. Reading and hearing the horror stories of not cleaning up around the coil pack/spark plugs first and watching dirt fall into the valve train makes one extra patient and cautious. Also buffed mine out with steel wool, clean, and wipe out the residue. I was slow as a turtle retorqing the bolts in the exact sequence advertised. Since this is my fair weather driver, time wasn't critical:

They all look great! I just did powder coated black a couple weeks back, and love the improvement....

Slightly off topic, but has anyone here either bought or sold a pair of used stock covers? How much??

Thx,
Mike

All those bays look GREAT.

Viperrmk I like that you matched your colors to your CAI, looks really good. I also really like your mustang logo on the covers, just need some cleaning around that eng bay now and you will be ready for the show. My valve covers ended up not matching anything, lol.

So is the removal process the same on a V6 as a GT? I wouldnt think so. Also when I do this I think it would probably be smart to get new gaskets...anyone have an idea what those run?

Boozshey - your covers look great, I love the old factory Ford blue. My first car was a 72' Mustang with a 351 Cleveland automatic and the valve covers and air breatherwere factory painted the same color as yours.
