Default cat removal?

can i have my local exhaust shop replace my cats with test pipes? would this cause the car's computer to go crazy? I could live with the CEL...

well, you could buy a "off road" X or H pipe
and then either get a mil eliminator
or a preditor and shut off the rear o2 sensors

what do you think you will gain by removing your cats (besides some bad sounding noise?)

no cat + no muffler = Rice

You should just get a CEL. I would alsowarn against no cats and muffler delete...especially in S.C! besides youll need the stockers for inspection or future trade-in. you can get an O/R H for wellunder $200.. replacing the factory mid-pipe will cost you 6-7 times that!...just a suggestion

yep, no cats and no muffler usually is LOUD and sounds like ***, not refined or anything. Keep the cats or ditch the LM........all my opinion though

you will lose alot of low end torq with that too since you have no backpressure at all

Like others said, don't remove the cats unless you have mufflers or resonators. If you want to keep the muffler deletes then get some resonators and install them between your H-pipe and over axle pipes. Resonators will clean up the sound and not make it so raspy when going catless with muffler deletes. Also, if you want to retain or gain torque then get a prochamber with your off road pipe.

One more thing, I believe it's against federal law to remove a functional cat and most shops wouldn't replace it unless it was bad or even remove it completely and put in a test pipe. Well...unless the shop is shady. That's why I removed mine at home so no one can say anything about it. [8D]
