Default Over MSRP ?

Im planning on ordering a a new Mustang soon.....Ive heard some people are paying over MSRP for their GT's, should I expect a dealer to want to charge me over MSRP as well, even if im special ordering one ?

You can expect them to try.

Just an observation, but you may also expect to see delays in your order until you can no longer stand the frustration and then go buy one from a big dealer who may or may not bend you over.

I discussed this with a local dealer when I was looking around (about 3 weeks ago) and they were willing to order one for me at sticker price (no lower). They did say that Ford was overwhelmed with orders and that it was unlikely any more '05 orders would be fulfilled. I've read stories here about people getting their order filled in less than 2 months and other stories of people that have been waiting since November. If you haven't tried it, use "forddirect.com" to see if you can find what you are looking for in stock somewhere before placing an order.

I was able to order mine at sticker price. However, I have been trying to locate a GT on a lot and cancel my order, and any GT that I have called about the dealer has asking $3K to $5K over sticker.

Good luck

I sell Fords in Olympia, WA and we've had a name and a 1000 dollar deposit on all of our 05 allocation since December. I paid MSRP 33,850 for my 05 GT Conv TorchRed/Red interior and I work there. We have yet to have anyone balk at a 2k second sticker considering its 5-7k up in Seattle. I've been offered up to 45k for mine. I'll never sell it. Too damn much fun and my wife would knife me in my sleep.

I just signed a contract for an 06 GT at $1,000 under MSRP.

Sounds like we need to start buying cars elsewhere and selling them in your neck of the woods then.
