Your 05 v6 is worth 20k? I don't even think my 07 GT with 5k miles is worth that much.
Check KBB, I have 12,000 miles and it is in near perfect condition. 19,xxx was the estimate.

20k for an 05 V6 seems REALLY high to me. Maybe a dealer would try and charge that much butfor a private sale I think that number is unrealistic.

I just checked KBB on my 07 loaded GT with 5500 miles and it was 20,600 and thats for Excellent condition. Even then, try getting a dealer to pay you kbb on a trade in... If I'm not mistaken you can get new V6s for less than 20k.

You guys talking blue book, or black book? The black book is wholesale price : ie what the dealer will give you for trade.
Traditionally, dealers can sell used cars for more money then private because buyers seem to trust a dealership more. Its also someone they can go back to if there are problems.

Easiest thing to do is sell your car and get a GT. If you have alot of money get the 4.6 aluminator engine from Ford racing.

An 05 V6 is probably worth 13-14k (or less).

Crate engine... Make it worth it.
Like a 408ci out of a 351 block, matted to a 6 speed for gas mileage.

If you go with modular engines, you will pull your hair off by the time it's all dialed in.
Too many little PITA parts to deal with.

My car is a convertible, which helps a lot with value.
