Question about x pipe

Question about x pipe
Can someone explain the difference between an off road x pipe and a high flowing catted x pipe.
I am thinking about buying the Magnaflow Xpipe but am unsure of which one to buy.
I don't have emissions testing where I live (yet) so thats not an issue.
I need to know if there is any performance gains between the two.
Any sound difference?
Also I know with an off road x pipe I will get that old school exhaust smell inside the car.
Is this going to deter me from wanting that set up?
I have the Ford Racing Stingers on my car. I have read posts where the x pipe sounds best with the bullet style mufflers. Is this the case?
I plan to put shorty headers on the car in the near future> What kind of power can I expect from this exhaust set up? Will I be waking up my neighbors when I come home from work?
Oh wait a minute I don't care about that, they don't seem to worry about getting out early and cutting their grass at 7am when I just got home from work 4 hours ago

RE: Question about x pipe
o/r x pipe will yield maybe 5 hp more than hi flow catted x
o/r you will get that gas smell.....ahhh i love the smell of high octane in the morning
i would guess that w/ shorties and o/r x pipe you would see 10-12 rwhp
catted x pipe less than that.
and i think the x pipe sounds good w/ stingers

RE: Question about x pipe
I had slp loudmouths, and i sold them because i wanted to re-do the whole exhaust from headers back. So i bought the FRPP Stingers, put them on. Hell, i hated them. Sounded okay, but way too quiet. So the same day i found an o/r x near by and had it put on. I LOVE it. Its a race car type sound now. Also, its louder than the LM's. Ive decided to hold off the headers for a couple of months so i can enjoy this for now.
There is some sort of trumpeting through certain rpms, but its not too bad. I kind of like it.
