Catalytic Converter
Yes.....about 95% of the people on here have O/R midpipes (no Cats). BTW the way your question is stated makes it sound like you think the Cat is in the muffler itself. The cats and the mufflers are two completely different things in two completely different spots on the exhaust. The amount of attention from the police depends on where you live.

Maybe it's just me, but throttle response is a little different, meaning that I barely press the gas pedal driving down the interstate and I'm going 80+! But I'm also running an aftermarket CAI with a programmer.
There is night and day difference in sound. An exhaust setup without cats is CRAZY (aka **** off the neighbors) loud.

so you all know, it is a 10,000 dollar fine for each cat that is removed, a tech who does it will be fined also in cali if not fixed your car will be crushed. THought you all would like to know, now has anyone been fined this? i have not seen but the fine is federal and they may do it one day.
Here in Ohio we do not have to pass emissions, but if we did, I wouldn't be passing with my O/R pipe. I did keep my factory H-pipe just incase the law here changes. As for the sound, a cop pulled up beside me at a red light yesterday and looked at me. I thought he was going to tell me to pull over, but he just said "Nice car....sounds great".
here is the law,
