I use leather conditioner on mine, and after 43000 miles, they still look pretty new. I would recommend that on ALL leather seats, Mercedes or not!

+1 i just use meguiars leather conditions/cleaner wipes and *knock on wood* they still look brand new after about a year. i just wipe them down pretty good everytime I wash the car and then buff them with a microfiber towel. only takes 5-10 min.

can say it is definitely not a strong area for the car but if conditioned regularly it should hold up......oh and if you are fat (sorry or too big for the seat) it will break down much sooner..... JMO

yeah that's another thing. i don't mean to offend anyone but if you're overweight and complaining about the leather not holding up than i don't know what to say. i'm not saying that anyone on here is having that problem but I know of a few people personally that are overweight and they complain about their seats not holding up and I just want to laugh. if you're overweight and really rubbing against the leather everytime you get in and out of the car I don't care what brand it is... it's going to start to wear faster than normal. while we are on the subject (sorry) a lot of people complain that the mustangs seats aren't very sports car like and could usea lot more bolstering and what not but this is an american car and it'll never happen because we are a country of large people! look at the new nissan gt-r everything about the version of that car they are selling here in the states is exactly the same and it's japanese counterpart except for... you guessed it... the seats! they are larger than the seats that come in the car sold in any other country. again sorry if this offends anyone but i'm sure a lot of people and I'm not talking about the OP here that have problems with their leather are either not taking care of it or are just too big for the seat. again, i'm sure that's not always the problem but I'll bet you more often than not it is.

Same thing happened to my previous car. In my case it was because I used to hang my office keys from the belt loop and they would scratch the car every time I got in.

Wearing Jeans will also eat up the leather fast.

I don't see any "cracking" in the photo. Just normal wrinkling.
The center preforated part is leather but NOT the outer part. No need to waste good leather cleaner on it, which could even cause damage to the pleather they use.
