With 4000$ to put in to suspension what would you do to make your s197 perform at its best handling wise, what parts and why or why not would you get certain items and made by who?I do drag race it from time to time but that is not my main concern. Im just sick of its sloppy rear end and body roll so i want this thing to handle, after riding in my freinds m3 with a few grand in suspension coilovers and all i realize how far behind my gt is and i've lways hated itssloppyness and am ready to pull the trigger.

Thanks: Eric

You won't get your Mustang to handle like an M3, they are not even close to being in the same league.

+1

It's not now and never will be comparable to an M3 despite what the Euro-Haters will chime in and say.........

My list with approximate dollar values:
Vogtland springs - $209
Koni Sports - $710
J&M Camber Plates - $230
Chrom-moly adj PHBrod/poly combo- $160 (many brands)
Steeda PH Brace - $80
Spohn adj UCA rod end- $112
Chrom-moly LCAs rod/poly - $220 (many brands)
Lt weight rims <20lbs, like the Enki or 5Zigen with Touring class tires ~$1500 (or R-Comps for a couple hundred more)
Driver upgrade mod (most important) - 3 HPDEs - ~700-900

You can debate the merits of one platform over another until the cows come home but by far the most important factor is the driver. The above stang may not feel like an M3 but a good driver can go every bit as fast (at least against the E30, 36, and many E46).

Don't forget a Watts link if you're SERIOUS about handling.

But, if I had $4k laying around and was trying to outdo an M3, I'd get BOOSTED, BABY!! Trust me.. 435 wheels in a Mustang, with decent rubber, is more than enough to make an M3 guy quake in his shoes.. You might not hang in the twisties, but at least he won't be able to bag on you about point and shoot...

I have always wanted a major suspension overhaul for the stang... it's alot of money though. And the driver really is the biggest factor.

The following story is 100% true:
3 events ago, Ihad a faster best time thanan e46 Dinan M3 at autocross. I'll never forget that glorious day.
yeah, so, maybe the driver sucked... just a bit. lol

Some good suggestions to get you started man, what are ya waiting for
Driver mod is by far the best.
Also consider some minor brake upgrades if you plan on taking it on a road course with that M3.
And if you can ever get an instructor to ride with you thats tops!

Gotta slip these in since I just got them from the track photagrapher.

I what do is a blower, or twin turbo if you will spend a little more
if you still put it down there just have sure you get coilovers
like the 3 way adjustable kw's
get this tell me how it is before i put it on my car j/k
