Oops - I forgot the brake upgrade in my original list. That should be one of the first items on the list if you truely want to go faster around twisties - spend a few hundred on SS lines, hi temp fluid and improved pads. Thanks for pointing that out Stoner.

There is a saying - Horsepower makes up for a bad driver. No doubt you boost a stang and it will blow away most cars in a straight, and be a ton of fun to boot. But, it cost more than 4K and will not improve the handling, probably make it worse since you are adding ~100lbs to the front end. But you face will be all smiles!

Coilovers would be a nice way to go, especially if they are double adjustable, but they cost a ton, you have to know what you are doing to set them upand in the end its going to take a very good driver to exploit the advantages over our stock configuration. I.e. average drivers are not going to see lower lap times due coil overs vs good dampers and springs. If we had a bigger budget to work with I'd put them in my list. Note that the FR500S uses double adjustable coil-overs.

07BlackGT - good story. Funny - we had an M3 Dinan at a recent AX...I beat him also...hmm maybe that car isn't so good (just kidding, he was a rookie driver)

Stoner - sweet pics. How do you get the photographer to give you all those images? They have always been pretty reluctant to share, unless you buy, at events I've been at. Some pretty high end cars in that first photo: lotus, bimmer, vette, porsche - how did you hang with them?

You won't get your Mustang to handle like an M3, they are not even close to being in the same league.
Ok this is what I dont get. Why not?? e46 M3 is 3415 pounds the coupe that is and the vert is even heavier. weight distribution is 50.1 front 49.9 rear.

Mustang GT is 34XX last time i checked and weight distribution is 53/47 ( slightly worst than an E46). I don't see where such huge differences as you describe between the two cars as to why a mustang with suspension work couldnt be in the same league since the two cars are so similar in weight especially and are close to eachother in weight distribution.

Don't forget a Watts link if you're SERIOUS about handling.

But, if I had $4k laying around and was trying to outdo an M3, I'd get BOOSTED, BABY!! Trust me.. 435 wheels in a Mustang, with decent rubber, is more than enough to make an M3 guy quake in his shoes.. You might not hang in the twisties, but at least he won't be able to bag on you about point and shoot...
Suggestion of where to buy it? I've seen a few but am unsure of where I want to buy it from

In a race I already smoke him in the straight away. When his suspension was stock i could stay with him in the twisties but after he upgraded its not even comparable but im not trying to compete with him hes my freind we just mess around for fun. I will get boosted though eventually, most likely this winter so I figured i'd build my car how I want it before the added power of a boosted, built engine.

I just want my car to be able to take some sharp turns without the back end sliding all over the place and I have to drift it or the front end just nose dive towards a wall and am definetly looking for something adjustable. Still looking for those opinions guys so far great responses have been checking out all the parts you all are suggesting. Thanks

I just did my suspension (see sig) and my back end still slides out but it jumps in line. This is part of the driver mod everyone is talking about. Your back end sliding is not usually a problem. Body roll, poor shock rebound, and oversteer are the culprits in my book. Reduce those, firm it up and you can take very sharp corners fast, and let your tail slide out and back on line. That is part of the fun!
