Yes, shorties are bolt on, some say to be safe, depending which brand you go with (like FRPP's) you should install aftermarket motor mounts like Steda or Prothane, to give extra clearance.
I've never seen a pair for sale at 150 bucks, ever, not new anyway.

i have frpp shorties with the stock motor mounts, no clearance issues. keep an eye on ebay, i bought mine brand spanking new for $112. you won't get the hp gains that long tubes will, but you'll pick up a little midrange torque, plus you can use your stock h pipe if your concerend about emissions testing.

if it is JBAs or BBK and you realize that install takes 5+ hours normally so thats a good deal of shop time or your time then yes.....i wouldnt get the FRPP set, i would pay another 200 for BBK

Nobody seems to have given a good reason to replace the motor mounts. It did not and have not had any problem(s) with using the stock mounts.
