Default Is it worth it to change CAIs???

I currently have the k&n CAI on my GT. Almost every one here has either a C&L or a JLT with tunes from brenspeed...etc!!

Should i consider changing to C&L and get a tune?
would a tune be enough for me?
will i get more HP gains from other CAIs because they require tuning and K&N doesn't???

I used to have the K&N CAI without a tune. I was stuck like you are now. I decided to just get a tune and see what I think. I'm pretty happy with the K&N CAI and tune so I would suggest trying that. I know many people curse the K&N but I've never had a problem with mine and will probablykeep it for a while.

To be honest man, I had my K&N for like a year. I decided to go with a Bamachips tune/JLT combo for $550 and I LOVE IT. The main reason I did it as well, you figure $400 for the tunes right? so $550 for the combo, basically $150 for the intake. You can sell your K&N cleaned and oiled for $150 easy on ebay or craigslist, mine is already gone. Basically you get the bigger better intake for free.

You also might want to look at the Brenspeed Airaid Kit, very good unit.

I'd switch to the jlt with a bama or brenspeed tune.

My vote is to just get a tune for the K&N CAI. I don't think that the couple of extra HP will justify the cost. For the record, when I only had a K&N CAI and tune, I ran a 12.87 at the track, on the stock tires-so I'd say the K&N CAI are very capable intakes. Definently get a tune though, makes all the difference!

Keep your eye out for someone selling one used in the FS section. Then sell your K&N. There isn't much of a difference between the K&N and bigger intakes, but there is a little power to be gained none the less.

ok thanks for the input guys. i think i've made the decision to go with brenspeed tune. i had a look at their packages they are all quite close ( $$$ wise!!! ) which package is the best?

JLT w/tune?
Airaid w/tune?
C&L w/tune? (C&L street or racer????)

As long a s a good tuner can write you tunes supportingyour K&N, I'd say stick with your current CAI. You won't feel any difference in performance gains between your present CAI and another (as long as the tuner supports it).
