Walk 1.5 miles and collect your car. It's cheaper and healthier ...

Back on topic, I would just drive the 6 miles. Doesn't seem like a really big deal.

All right here is the deal, I will explain the situation then please tell me what you would do.
I live in San Antonio, TX and until recently I had a company car that I could drive to and from work, which is only 6 miles. Several weeks ago we were told we had to park the company car at a goverment building (I work for the government). So, I found a police station near my house, only 1.5 miles. I then have to drive my pony 1.5 miles to pick up the company car and drive that the 4.5 miles to the office. Of course I also have the option of just driving the stang all the way to the office. Here is the choice;
Would you==
A. Drive the mustang only1.5 miles park it at the police station, risking a door ding (very close parking spaces) and leave it under the direct sun all day, or
B. Drive it all the way to work to take advantage of the covered parking, and the much less likelyhood of a door ding but putting atotal of 9 miles per day instead of just 3, not to mention the gas prices.
Thanks to all who reply......

Are you physically unable to bike the mile and a half, saving money, your Mustang's appearance and pollution?
Is there no bus pass available?

RE: driving choices...
1. A 6 mi commute is better for the car than a 1.5 mi commute. It gets the engine closer to operating temp and you wontget as much waterin the oil or sludge. Oil change intervals wont have to be as short.
2.You get the worst fuel mileage in the 1st 1 mi from a cold start. So you might use$5.00a week of fuel with the 1.5 mi commute and$13.00 for the 6 mi commute. (I get 20 mpg in a 4.7 mi city commute from a cold start. This requires Grandma Mode).
3. You already know about the sun and the effects on paint + the possible door dings.
I vote for the longer commute and safer parking.

I thought just because someone was here longer, didnt mean they couldnt change their avatar whenever they felt like it..........
The time you've spent here = nothing to do with your avatar.
