Default MP3 Format & Shaker 500

So I decided to burn a couple CD's in MP3 format and found that to be a big mistake. Whenever I insert them into the Shaker 500 it sits there and 'reads' the disc for a minute or so and then spits it out saying it's a 'bad disc.' Has anyone else run into this problem? If so how did you fix it? Thanks.

does it say "MP3" on the unit right above the cd slot? because if not, then the only fix is to get a different head unit

I download the songs from Limewire. From there I burn the discs through Windows Media Player in MP3 format.

Personally I have more success burning them as mp3 files for my Shaker 500. I just drag and drop into the cd-writer icon in the "my computer" thing. If I use software to burn as mp3 files or even convert the files to the bigger sized music ones, it seems to work somewhat less often.

The biggest difference seems to be the cd itself though, not the burning mode or file format. Some brands don't work at all, and some will work for months and months before they screw up.

Either way, the Shaker head unit blows and it's probably worth it to go buy something aftermarket.

Or upgrade your exhaust and leave the cd player off. A nice set of pipes makes music that's way more pleasing than anything your Shaker can play.

Lol raubt I totally agree (check my sig). Thanks for the info. I'll probably go with an aftermarket unit.

Download itunes its much better than the pc crap!! (note: i have a mac)
Once u do that make a playlist less than 700mb or however much memory the cd has!!
then while in itunes select in the top left
Itunes-
Preferences-
Advanced then burning and choose mp3 cd!! It works great everytime and u can fit more than a hundred songs on the cd instead of 20 in a regular one!!

true, iTunes is better than WMP

also, stop using limewire, its just plain bad for the computer

anyway, are you using CD-RW or CD-R, because that can make a big difference
