Tips on removing spoiler?
waiting for my gt500 spoiler to come, ordered it from the spoiler store..anyone have tips to remove the stock gt spoiler off the back? i got the bolts out from the bottom of the trunk lid, i just dont want to yank on the spoiler and create dents in the trunk lid, any help?
u wont make a dent.. there is some sticky stuff on the bottom of the spoiler that just peels off if u rock the spoiler(unbolted of course) back and forth.. u will have to put some muscle into it a little bit but it should come right off.. i also was looking into this and heard a guy say he used fishing line to peel the sticky stuff off and detach the spoiler.. justdont go overboard rocking it to hard and make sure u do one side at a time.. i did it this way when i took off my torch spoiler and put my black one on..
You will NOT be able to get it off just by rocking it back and forth. Go and get yourself some braided fishing line and a can of 3M adhesive remover. Use the braided line to cut through the adhesive. It helps if you have another person to pull up on the spoiler as you cut through it. Then use the 3M adhesive remover to help you get the excess factory glue off. There is a lot of it!

DO NOT ROCK IT!!!
Pull up
You will leave 4 nice dentsat each corner of the spoiler, I know several people who have dents me included.. I don't care tho my spoiler covers it all anyways.

Heed the advice above...I used fishing line to saw off thru the 3m tape you will find once you remove the bolts. In my case, the spoiler was going no where so rocking it back and forth was a no-no. I used goo-gone to get rid of the adhesive.
i used Goo Gone and it worked fine. keep applying more of it and work it into the slice you created with the fishing line. slice the line through the adhesive but also up and away from the body cause you can disturb the paint. BE PATIENT and work your way all the way through, then you can pull the spoiler off by gently pulling and rocking it a little at a time. just don't rush it. having another person is a big help so long as they're on the same page as you.
