What Grade Tint Should I get?

RE: What Grade Tint Should I get?
CA legal limit on the doors is "no tint outside of what the factory installs". Techs putting the tint on your car will tell you that 40% really is not going to get you a ticket. The back windows can be 'double limo' if you so choose.
Don, let's get together and you can see the tint for yourself and I can give you the information for the tinting guy I used, even bring you down there if you want.

Good luck in getting your tint. I think when you look for it you will see that 20% is not dark at all. Also there are many kinds of tint out there. I choose the Global because of it's quality. Also if you don't put the felt in you might have some problem later on.
The Guy at Street Smart has been tinting for 20 years and does quality work that is backed up.

I got 35% tint on the rear window and the 2 back side windows. There really isn't too much difference. It looks better, but there are distortions in the view out the back, especially at night. I could have put the 35% on the 2 side doors but since there wasn't much of a diff I didn't think it was worth the expense. Cost about $130 at Al & Ed's w/ a discount.
If you live in CA I would advise you too not go over the legal limit, even if it's "just a fix-it ticket". The cops love to have an excuse to pull you over! When you give them that excuse they will also run your license, check the registration, see if you are properly insured, etc.

I went for a not so dark look.
I got Solar Guards new True Gray film
35 front and little windows
20 on back
Looks very nice! Enough to darken, knocks all the sun out, looks great and very classy

If you have distortion it is either due to it being really new and it will pass when it settles in or something is wrong. I had distortion for about 2=3 days and it is now gone.

Had my mineral gray tinted to Ga specs of 32%, and man did it ever dress it up. Believe you me, the itch was there to limo tint the sides and back, but the county I live in back in Ga has bubba sherriffs and wll not blink to find something to pull you over. Even if it's to say that we thank you for driving safely. (Happened twice in my 2000 cougar)

5-8% is considered limo tint.... 20% is the lighter shade up. Get limo tint on the back windows and 35% on the fronts like I have on mine, it looks good, dark and I have no trouble seeing at night at all. I have a silver 03 but it'll be about the same, i have dark charcoal interior too which makes the windows seem darker. You can also do 50% in the front but it doesnt look tinted, it looks like what new cars come with stock.... heres a pic of mine so you can get an idea. If its too dark for you, you can go with 20% rear and 35% front that seems to be good too!
