Engine Swapping

Engine Swapping
ok so since your GT and my V6 are basically the same cars with different engines so I'm wondering after seeing some ebay auctions like
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...em270253064423
:$1000
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...QQcmdZViewItem
:$2500
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...3756.m20.l1116
:$2200
so exactly how hard is to to swap my engine with the GT 4.6 ? I know I have to upgrade my fuel injecters just with a supercharger so I'd obviously I would have to with this as well.
What's the better option a Supercharger or buying a GT engine cause it looks like since the GT makes like what 280 at the wheels stocked and a supercharger does just about that that a swap is a better option let alone the fact that I can still buy after market parts for the GT in addition.
And I may be able to get free labor out of my Colleges' Automotive Program

RE: Engine Swapping
The difference between a 4.0 V6 and a 4.6 GT is much more than just the engine. By the time you change everything you need to (engine, exhaust, transmission, rear axle, brakes, sway bars, suspension, front fascia, grill and fogs, rear valance and a ton more) you will have spent more than what the conversion is worth and in the end you still only have a V6 ....... it can never be a GT.
If you really want a GT, sell the V6 and get one.
If you want more performance from your V6 get a CAI and a tune or go FI.

+1 to the above.....if you are going to swap engines, dont get a GT engine its not worth the hassle or money. Best advice is to sell the sixxer and get a GT. No headaches and the car will actually have resale value

RE: Engine Swapping
You'll need a brand new $1000 engine mangagment system,
$1000 for the mounts coolant tanks etc, then it's 6k for the
labor and 1k for the reprograming and rewiring work.
It costs 9k to do a 300hp engine swap and 12k to do a 600hp
engine swap and 15k to do a 800hp engine swap.

RE: Engine Swapping
yeah I could careless about making it a GT , just looking for performance but it looks like a engine drop cost a lot more than supercharger . guess I'll just do that . thanks guys

RE: Engine Swapping
Unless you can get an entire GT Salvage with all the drive-train parts and electronics in good shape ... it would be an expensive swap. I just saw a Salvage GT500 go for $15K ... that would be the way to go ....
