Bent Housing
A stock 8.8 Mustang housing shouldnt cost you anywhere close to $1k. If its just the housing thats bent, I might have one laying around somewhere that I can hook you up for cheap.
You could also swap in a 9", but you wont be able to do it for anywhere close th $1200. It costs a little more than that, and if youre not doing any type of driving that requires a 9", just fix whats broken and youll be good to go. Now, if you have plans to go with way more power down the road, then maybe now might be the time to explore some options to build your rear end a little stronger or changing to a 9"

You'd be hard pushed to bend the axle casting without sustaining damage on other parts of the frame and parts.
Did you have the car from new? this is definitely NOT something you'd do but not notice.
He surely must mean the diff plate cover......I sure hope so anyway [&:]

Yet another eason not to jack the rear by the diff pumpkin.
Was the rear ever jacked up via the rear diff pumpkin?
www.newtakeoff for under 1K for an 8.8 GT takeoff rear end with
whatever gear ratio you want plus a T-Loc to boot.

****. That could be it. I have jacked the car up from the diff a few times.
Only lift the car by designated jacking points on the frame or at the base of the suspension pickup points on the struts or axle casing.
It's too easy to take th easy route by lifting the whole rear at once on the diff housing, but take your time and raise one side at a time

Pretty much everyone jacks up the rear by the diff. How else are you supposed to do it?

Hereis a pic ofthe recommended jacking points.
See the arrows pointing to the ends of the rear axle tubes near the spring/shock mounts?
Notice how there is no arrow pointing to the rear diff housing.
The owners manual also states to not jack the rear by the diff housing
as it can cause $1K of damage.
