Sunset Ford in St. Louis set me up. From the day I stepped on the lot they explained to me how allocation works and how their volume allows them to get more cars.

You guys should hold your first "Sonic Blue Club" meeting at Sonic Burgers.

To the other guy... just the dealerships in Central West STL County and a couple south county ones. The dealership you inquired with is pretty big and moves a lot of cars so will be strong on the allocation list. But what is his standing of orders vs allocation I can't answer.

My dealer called me Thursday and told me he could now get my '05 V6 coupe "loaded" ordered now and have it in 8-10 weeks. A month ago he told me he could not order anymore '05s. Not sure what changed, maybe allocations changed. Going to see him Monday. BTW there are alot a base V6s sitting around here on dealer lots. Don't know why they do not build more loaded up V6s and GTs if these are the ones that are selling.

I'm the inventory manager for a Ford store. It is still possible to order a 2005 Mustang GT, but the key is to find a dealer that has available allocations, not just a lot of allocations. Going to a large store that sells a good number of Mustangs is not always that best way to go. Because of the popularity of larger stores, more people flock to them assuming they will have an easier time getting a Mustang. Small or middle sized dealers should still be considered because a lot of people write them off early. I don't know why, but Ford has been scheduling more GT's for production over the past month, so I have been able to catch up and schedule many of my custom orders. Ford is still scheduling orders for about another 6 weeks, so good luck to all!

If anyone has any general questions about ordering vehicles, feel free to let me know. I would be more than happy to answer any questions.

BTW - Please don't ask me what dealer I work for as I would rather not say; I have my reasons.

How much over or under invoice are you getting on the V6? I may be ordering a loaded V6 on Monday and just want to know what is reasonable.

Gary,

Are you planning on getting a coupe or convertible? I ask because I would just about give away any convertible because they are not selling for us.

As the model year is winding down, Ford is now limiting the number of coupes they are producing, so there may be a premium on a custom ordered coupe. I would try to sell the coupe for MSRP, but would probably take about $500 off MSRP to make the deal. There is only about a $1,500 mark-up from invoice to MSRP so dealers are not making a big killing on the V6 models.

I was looking at a loaded coupe. The best price I have now is $100 over dealer invoice. Sticker is $24550 invoice is $22,866. From what you just said it sounds like I am getting a good deal. I did not consider a vert because it stickered at about $4800 more. $29,390 sticker, $27220 invoice for the same car except it is a vert. If I could get a vert closer to coupe pricing I would.
