mine does this a lot too, I thought it was because if you try to go from 1st into R without pausing at N for a sec it will lock you out

Stick her in 5th first to stop any parasitic
rotation of the gearbox internals, then into reverse.
Dont believe reverse gear has any synchros.

Yeah reverse doesnt have syncro's. If you try to get it into reverse and it doesnt go, move the shifter back into neutral and let out the clutch pedal for a second. Then push the clutch back in and go for reverse. It should slide in every time.

The manual gearbox also has a mechanism to keep you from going into reverse while moving. But it also kicks in at a dead stop. I think the manual suggests putting it in 2nd or something over on the left before going into reverse. I got in the habit of clutching in neutral, putting it in 2nd, then going to reverse. Never have an issue.

When I start up in the morning it occasionally wants to be stubborn about going into reverse.
I move it into 4th, then it slides into R no problem.

sorry to hear about the tranny...

do you think this is related to all
the brake stands

if it is related, then maybe the clutch
