My BFG KDW-2's are directional. Rotate front to back, no crossing over. I know
there are many more ultra/extreme high performance tires that are too. Any tread
pattern that has any angles in it (like a V pattern)aregoing to be directional.

In order to maximize tire life tires must be criss crossed. I have been changing the rotation for directional tires for quite a few years now. Directional tread normally has to do with removing water from under the tire. On dry surfaces no difference in performance of tire under normal driving. When the tires are reversed you just need to take it easy on wet roads as they will not be as efficient getting the water out from under the tire. So far on normal driving even at highway speeds I have not noticed a difference even on wet roads.

I just rotated mine today and have another question for everyone. When I rotate them I clean the rims and wax the backs to try and keep the dirt in check. My fronts seem to have almost no buildup on the inside but the rears are loaded with dirt and brake dust. Are everyone elses the same? Looked at the pads today and didn't see any excessive wear and everything looked like it was moving freely? Is it normal for more crude and dust on the rear wheels? Just as a side note I always have the TCS off when I drive.

Thanks

You and I are two of the few people who detail our wheels and tires when werotate them. For me, any time I remove a tire I detail the backside, Unfortunately, you can't keep the back side as nice as the front since you don't remove them all the time.

The dust and dirt you mention is normal. I have switched pads on all my cars and trucks to ceramic. So now very little if any brake dust. However still get a lot of black road dust. Not much you can do about it.

That's something I've never considered doing, but it sounds logical. Still, I'll stick to
what the tire co recommends. I don't want to find out the hard way whether or not
my tires work well in the rain when on backwards.

fronts straight back, cross the rears to the front
Should actually be cross the fronts, rears straight forward. Non drive wheels cross.
What the Rubber manufactures association recommends, and what most shops will follow.
But I really see no difference, dunno.

How are the TPMS sensors reprogrammed?
No need on rotations, the sensors are not position specific.

Actually according to the Ford workshop manual, the SJB
knows what sensors are in what tires until they are rotated
from the positions that they were in when originally trained.
