Default Right Offset for 05' Rims

Anyone know what the correct offset is for the 05' rims?

I am looking for the chrome bullitt wheels & every one I find is the wrong offset. They are all too big & stick out of the fender wells,...

Has anybody found these yet???

The correct offset is 45mm but only for a 17x8 wheel. If you go to a wider width rim the offset would have to be even more. I bought Ford Polished Aluminum Wheels 17x8 with correct 45mm offset and I also found out Ford Racing is supposed to have them in chrome.

I'm no wheel expert by any means, but I don't think that statement is completely accurate. The offset is only half the equation... you also need to consider the backspacing. For example, I know of one website that lists "correct" fitments for the 2005 in 17x9 and 18x9 sizes. The 17x9 is listed as 6.75" backspacing and +45mm offset. The 18x9 is a 6.42" backspacing and +36mm offset. Both are 9" wheels, but the offsets are different.

The offset of a 17x8 wheel is the width divided by 2 which is 4" plus the 45mm offset which translates into appoximately 1-3 /4 inches that means that from the mounting surface of the rim you have about 5-3/4 inches backspacing. If the offset is less and the rim is wider it will diffinately stick out farther.

I was just looking at Ford Racing Parts website (http://www.fordracingparts.com), and it notes the backspacing as 5.295 for the 17x8 Bullitts.

The wheels on Ford Racing say they will fit but they do not say they are the correct 45mm offset.

Maybe I'm stupid, but something is not making sense here to me.

You said you bought the Ford wheels... right? If so, then you should have the 5.295" backspacing. In one case you say the correct numbers should be 5.75" backspacing and +45mm offset. But, what you have is 5.295". How can the offset still be +45mm? According to your formula, it would need to be about +33mm... right? Then they would have to stick out about 1/2" farther than stock wheels.

I'm not trying to be an *** or anything, I'm just trying to clarify all this in my mind.

Here's a site that provides a lot of details: http://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html

After looking at that, I see the thickness of the wheel flange is important. So, you can't just say "The offset of a 17x8 wheel is the width divided by 2 which is 4" plus the 45mm offset which translates into appoximately 1-3 /4 inches that means that from the mounting surface of the rim you have about 5-3/4 inches backspacing." You have to consider the flange thickness, which varies by wheel type/style/mfr.
