new cai and tune - hesitation
installed jlt cai and tune from brenspeed last weekend. when i pull out in 1st aggressively i seem to get a hesitation then a rush. same thing happens to a lesser degree after 1st-2nd shift.
running 87 octane tune and only have 15-20 miles operation since the install.
any ideas what the issue could be? thanks.

when the hesitation happens does it feel like its less power then the stock tune. because my 91 tune doesn't pull HARD below 3500, then pulls real hard above that, feels like a kick in the ***. maybe you are just feeling the tunes "sweet spot"

I have noticed that with both my JLT and my Steeda, in all the tunes I have ran, 93 perf, torq and race,I get some throttle lag on the low end, not much, but enough to feel it. The 4.10's will clear that up, I am sure...lol. Going to call Doug at Bama and see what is up. I just loaded my 91 perf to see how that does, hopefully better. If not, well then wont fear the gear!

RE: new cai and tune - hesitation
It's not so much a hesitation as it is a pause... my wife says it's not affecting it speed-wise, she thinking it's all sound - I'm not sure I agree. It runs perfectly otherwise and it really isn't big deal. I used to gave a Mazda MX6 turbo and I'd liken it to that, it goes and then it you get the air sound and it GOES.
To switch octanes do you need to go back to stock, run through a tank of the octane you want, then load that tune?

so it sounds like it's normal to have that slight delay?
how about the tune switch for diff octane? howz it done without running wrong octane? run the tank down???

RE: new cai and tune - hesitation
First you need to driveto more to let the computer "learn" the new tune.(probaby done this already)I have a Brenspeed 92 Octane tune and it had a slight "pause" as I called it. Now' what I did was get down on the floor with a light and had the car running, I pushed the throttle down until I saw how much play there wasbefore the RPMs came up. I then filled that gap plus a slight (1/64")more with a shim and JB weld. Now the throttle is SO MUCH quicker and no lag. The pause is all but gone. I just touch the pedal and the RPMs move up. Really Sweet!

Isn't the tune supposed to get rid of the lag ? I have a 2008 which does't have that problem will a cai and tune give me problems ?
