ok, i have done a spark plug change before (not in my current car) for my auto class, and NEVER had ANY trouble with the plug swap. how come the mustang's/ford's plugs are so difficult? i know the techs who do the original installation probably use lok-tite but still, wouldnt a simple loosen, tighten, loosen some more, tighten a little suffice?

its not that it isn't easy, its the spark plugs themselves. they are two pieces and the fuse to the head and break very easy. this is where it sucks. if your motor is hot you have a higher chance of this happening and that is why so many are nervious. if i understand there is now a couple of plugs that are one piece.

What solution should I spray into the spark plug wells to soak in? I dont want to use blaster 5000 or wd40 cause I dont think it will burn up in the cylinder head properly...... maybe something petrolem based to burn right up..

Ichanged my plugs this past weekend. my car had 46k miles on. Followed the TSB after letting the car sit overnight so it was cold. After having owned a 1999 Expeidition with 5.4L and a 2004 Expedition with 5.4L I was actually laughing at how easy it was to change the plugs on this car. Everything was easy to get too andI did not have to play contortionist to get to the back COP/plugs... PIECE OF CAKE MY FRIEND...

As long as the plugs are not seized in the head (from carbon build up), it's one of the easiest plug changes you'll ever do. With 7K miles, should indeed be a piece of cake. Just be sure to putthin coat ofnickel anti-seize on the ground electrode shield (Keep it off the fireing end and threads) regardless of what plug you put in. I think the plug torque is 25 ft/lbs.
