Default What power level are you, on slicks?

I have stock 17 wheels with the 275/40/17 Mickey thompson Et Street Slicks. I think with anymore then 300rwhp and I'm spinning them? Or is there something I'm doing wrong. of course this is on the street with some VHT. Not a prepped track. Which I know would make a HUGE difference.

Just wondering what kinda power people are using with these tires.

Launching at to high of RPM's??? I have 440 to the tire with Nito 555's (the least sticky DR out there), with 4.10's, and I can put it down OK on the street. Just vary your launch RPM's till you find the happy spot. Those MT's should dead hook once you find where they are happy.

yeah I use to launch at 4k and dump it, and it would just spin. I launched it the other day at 3k and it hooked good. Just I need to leave the line on the bottle. just hope my clutch holds up.

Well, first of all, those tires are meant for the track, so what kind of traction you're getting on the street doesn't mean anything. Second, you have to do a good burnout in 2nd if you want them to hook. Sticky tires need heat. There's no reason that with a proper burnout, you should be spinning those tires.

Dump those radials and get a pair of 26x11.5x17" bias ply ET streets. I dump the clutch at the redline and hook like there's super glue on my tires. I also do a John Force style burnout on line locks.

I run a 28" tall true 10.5 tire on a 15" Bogart. I have 670 rwhp and dead hook the tires. I leave on the floor off a transbrake.

This is on a track of course.

I have run the bias -ply at 519 RWHP hooks like a champ. You need to heat them up thats all.
Also the air pressure should be optimal.

Is there any reason to use slicks in a stock or near stock car? The stock car has enough power to spin the stock street tires.

Not really. You could definitely hook up with a drag radial.
