RE: GT500 KR....79,995?????
People are buying these as collector items. Pay $150,000 for one now, garage it for 20yrs and resell for $500k. My buddy who has one ordered plans on doing this. He also has an early production 2005 GT500 that rarely leaves the garage.

Anything is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I don't think the rpice is that absurd.
Think about it. A Richard Mille Tourbillon white gold watch will go for over $305,000 retailif you could even get one. He'll only make probably 10 of them. In years to comecollectors will give twice or three times that just to get their hands on one, and it's just a watch!!!
It's all about what people are willing to pay, value has nothing to do with it.

You are paying for exclusivity...as in the replacement parts will not be available to anyone that is not a registered owner of a KR version, as in they will not be licensing aftermarket replacement parts either so everyone that bought a Mustang GT or GT500 will not be able to do a "Tribute" KR.
As someone stated what is exclusivity worth to you? To some, $80K is way high, to others (like Jay Leno) it's a drop in the bucket and worth it to be one of the selct few.

Dude, this is a complete lie, ALL the parts necessary to make a KR clone are available for sale right now. Besides that it only has 540hp! The Saleen Sterling Edition has 770hp! and instead of making 1700 of them there are only 25 of them, and it gets TEN seconds on the quarter mile, and it has the same handling as the extreme which is "the best handling car available on the market" according to motortrend, and the interior has been completely redone to the point of stitching the dashboard and doors in alcantra, and you get a flight to the Saleen factory to watch the production process as well as getting to meet the people who made it.
I just dont see at all how a KR makes sense at its pricing point, it doesnt even make sense in the limited context of mustangs. It doesnt even have the interior refinished. In fact the only thing it has unique that you can't buy is slightly different badging (the super snake badges on the other hand are for sale), unfortunately the Saleen Sterling Edition has it beat in that context too, its unique badges are made of pure silver... sorry[sm=bs.gif]

I love my Mustangs butone of the newFord GT's, now there is my dream car!!! I've lusted over them since I first saw one back in 1967, of course it was one of the original Ford GT 40's. They kicked Enzo's butt all over the place.

Um, no... 770 HP? try 620 HP and 600 ft.-lb. TQ
And TOTALLY NOT worth $100,000... yes ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS... so you pay an extra 20k more than a KR for a car that there may only be 25 of, but that probably still wont retain value as well as a KR, simply due to the shelby name and history.
Honestly i dont think ANY mustang is "worth" even 80k... i mean i LOVE mustangs just as much as the next guy, but in a GT500 they're never gonna take the time to take the dash apart and felt pad the back side to prevent EVER having dash rattles/vibrations... they're just never gonna be built like an $80,000+ car ought to be built... some may disagree with that, butfor about $100,000 you can get a Porsche 911 turbo... 0-60 in 3.4 sec... way more worth the money than a mustang... sorry
not to mention that the GT500 KR still has the single rear axle that the stock GT500 has... a stupid decision on their part in a 500HP+ car... so you have to pay another 25K to get the supersnake package to get the independent rear axle for handling that's even deemed worthy of a car of that cost.
and "the best handling car available on the market".....where'd you hear that? that award goes to the 911 GTS
as much as i would like mustangs to be everything a car like that should be, they're just not... they'relike having anunderachieving child: you'll love them no matter what, but they're just never gonna be what you'd hoped haha
