Default Storing my 07 for a few years....

So I may be moving out of the country on business for a few years. I want to store my Stang in an enclosed storage area. But I am not sure what to do with a car that is going to be stored that long? Oil...fuel...leather...coolant...etc...ideas, what is going to be safe and good for when I get home and want to drive her home?

You can put her in my garage, I'll take good care of it hehehe.

Have you thought about leaving it in a friend or family members garage? They could take it out every few months around the block or etc... That's what I did with my Explorer both times I've deployed overseas. Left it with my pops.

You may want to pull the wheels off and store them flat and keep the car suspended on jack stands. Otherwise the tires will 'flat spot' and be ruined. (It's harder to steal it that way too especially if you store the wheels separately)

Another very important thing, set mouse traps and glue boards around the jack stands. A nest of mice could RUIN the car in short order. They eat wiring, tear apart seat and carpet to build nest...............they are BAD NEWS!

+1 on the stabilizer in a full tank of gas and a good car cover.

I'm sure you have already considered selling (considering the economic loss)...so, to answer your question, you really should consult a professional. Check also to see if you have car storage facilities in your area...they are equipped to set your vehicle up for storage during your absence. Good luck!

Someone told me that you have to drain all the fluids out of the car, and disconnect the battery.. I don't know if this is true or not

That Tire/Wheel idea is pretty smart as well.

Drain all fluids. Put the car up on jacks/blocks and deflate the tires. Set those mouse traps. Put in some mothballs. Make sure you've filled up any chips and dings on the paint so no rust gets started. Throw a car cover on there.

Anyone else got something to add?
