I thought my car was a little weird. I replaced my rear pads & rotors at like 44,000 miles. I used OE Ford pads and Centric rotors. The front pads still have a whole lot of pad left. The brakes are very good. By the way, I've never done a burnout. I always expect the front brakes to wear out first.

I think it was the burnouts that used up my brake pads. I know one thing that wasn't good...i raced a 06 accord on an 1/8 mileprivate roadwith my E-brake on...and won.

There was a guy on here with an 05'. Had 100k on the car already and hadn't even changed his pads out yet. A lot of highway driving I'm sure but amazing all the same.

I would think under regular abuse they'd be good for at least 40k...

A little over 60,000 miles on mine with plenty of meat left. But, of course, your mileage may vary depending on your driving habits. I don't wait until the last second to stop and have always gotten good mileage from brake shoes/pads. plus, most of my mileage is highway miles. If most of your mileage is around town, you'll be using your brakes more often.

I won't be any help. I have over 20,000 miles in one year on mine and about 18-19,000 of that is highway... 200-300 miles at a clip w/o ever touching the brakes (gas station to gas station, mostly). I'd be surprised if I have to touch my brakesbefore 150,000 miles (assuming I don't trade up before then). Glad she's not my DD, though...[8D]

I just replaced my rear pads at 43K because last winter my parking brake wouldn't release when it was very cold out. It was so bad the heat cooked the caliper paint off.

I went ahead and bought pads for the front but when I went to replace them, I just put my wheels back on. I could hardly tell they woreat all. I probably have AT LEAST another 40K miles on them.

Rear brakes can wear out from doing burnouts too.
Might not be the burnouts as much as forgetting to turn off the traction control when you do them, or when you come off the corners hard and the TC is active.

Norm
I was under the impression that TC just retarded the fuel/ignitioncurve when activated. does it actually have any effect on braking/brakes?
