What should I do first?
I'm ready to start making mods to my 2006 GT which I bought a couple of months back. I know these questions get asked all the time, but, here's what I want to do:
Cold Air
Underdrive pulleys
Programmer
Throttle body
Possibly new exaust
My two questions are: 1. Out of the above, which should I do first, and 2. In your opinion what are the best ones (Brands) to buy. Any help, and if I missed anything on the list you think I should add would be appreciated. Thanks.

[ul][*]Cold Air = JLT[*]If you plan on going with a supercharger in the future don't do the underdrive pullies[*]Programmer = Diablosport or SCT[*]Throttle body is a waste of money and the gains aren't anything at all unless the car has a supercharger/turbo and the boost is way high like 14+ psi[*]Exhaust is a great mod, depends on if you want to turbo later on in the future, if you do a turbo then shorty headers, if you want to supercharge then go with long tube headers. Either way I'd go with a 2.5" exhaust all the way and it just depends on what brand and sound you're looking for. X-pipe will be a little higher pitch and more raspy and H-pipe will be deeper and throatier[/ul]
If I did all over again, knowing what I know now, I would start with the JLT or C&L CAI w/ tune from brenspeed (SCT). Then I would change exhaust, headers all the way back, keeping in mind what ryan said above. Third thing would have to be FRPP 3.73 or 4.10 gears taking into consideration future potential mods (i.e. supercharger or turbo), You will notice the biggest difference from this mod, it will affect your top end a little but its the best bang for your buck. After you have a little power get rid of those nasty stock rims if you haven't already. my 2 cents
+1
Thottle body has only been proven to be worth it at high boost. Save that money toward suspension. CAI and TUNE is a must. It simply wakes it up.
exhaust will make you very happy and want to hotrod it all the time! Believe me it will scare old ladies and children in your neigborhood [8D].
Don't let the mod bug bite...or maybe it already did.....

Depending on how much money you have, I'd look into doing the CAI (Cold Air Intake), tuner, gears in the rear end, and then putting on Lower Control Arms (LCA's) and adjustable UCA (Upper Control Arm)...and if the car is a stick I'd get a Hurst Short Throw Shifter. Till the wallet recovers just go out and beat the tar outta other cars on the STRIP
Upgrading wheels and tires are a MUST to get any traction. BFGoodrich K/A TDW's are great tires as well as Nitto 555's. After these mods I'd look into a full exhaust...again depending on if you want a turbo/supercharger in the long run you should make a choice on what headers to buy. The stock headers are by far the best headers on a mustang yet and flow really well. for supercharged applications get LT's (long tube) and I'd seriously look into a catted midpipe as emission's testing isonly going to get more strict and carry over into other states (where i live doesn't have any...yet
). After exhaust I'd look into a full suspension, then from there I'd look into a power adder, and get the HO (High Output version) of whatever you get because you will ALWAYS want more power and it's easier to downgrade the pulley (spring for turbo) than to add parts for the power you should have had in the beginning.
The engine will handle 475 rwhp by the way before internals need upgraded before you ask or anyone asks the question.

true! and by then it might be better to just get a built motor then forging IMHO. It comes out almost the same price and you can crank up that boost till you become a ferrari killer...ok maybe not ferrari but you know what i mean
OH...and if you turbo/supercharge the fuel system will need to be upgraded, but most kits come with that so no worries, and there will be little or no change in MPG...but most likely a change in how fast you go to or up to aMPH

I agree. CAI first. I love my JLT. It requires a tune. It made 8 more hp over a K&N on the dyno. Exhaust. Decide if you want long tube or shorty headers. Your midpipe depends on this. If you are on a budget I would go headers and midpipe before buying your axleback. These are where power is gained as far as exhaust. GEARS. IDK if you have an auto or a manual. Since your car is an 06 and assuming it is stock,if its an auto you have 3.31 gears and if it's a manual you have 3.55's. I went from 3.55's to 4.10's and it was the biggest bang for the buck i've spent so far. Forget the throttle body. So let's redo this list:
1) CAI/SCT programmer (JLT/SCT X3 package) $554
2)Exhaust (shorty headers start at $265 dollars and a good set of LT's can cost 1k. Like a gun...with headers you get what you pay for, price of midpipe depends on headers chosen)
3) GEARS (Ford Racing 3.73's or 4.10's) $150 and another $300-500 for install unless you do it

Def go with intake and tuner first. C & L racer would be what I would get if I did it again. Either way if your strapped for cash I bought mine on Ebay for382 intake and tuner(Diablo). I have the hurst but would get the MGW if I did that again. Some won't agree but the SLP LM sounds great. My cousin and uncle are chevy all the way and love the sound. How much money are you planning on spending?
