Dead Battery Syndrome- SOLVED!
The Stang's been resting peacefully in my garage the past 12 days because I bought a '98 Lincoln continental as my new "beater" and have been taking her to the lake every day (so as not to get sand and stuff in the Stang).
Anyway, I finally took her out this afternoon for a nice 40 mile drive (started right up and drove like a dream- and felt fast as h*ll after the Lincoln too!), then took her out again after dinner to go to the local tennis court- where I locked her with the remote for the first time in 12 days (not necessary in my garage).
When I finished playing I opened her as usual with the remote, stuck the key in the ignition, and...NOTHING HAPPENED. except that the factory alarm went off really pathetically (sounded like the battery was almost dead, but it couldn't have been because the gauge read full charge a few hours earlier when I started her up after 12 days, and then I drove 40 miles!).
NOTHING worked (windows didn't go up all the way, the remote suddenly didn't work at all any more, etc.), and all the dash lights at first came on when I turned the key, but then the next time they didn't, and then a few minutes later they did again, and then not, etc.). The map lights did work fine, but the horn didn't.
Someone tried to jump=start her for me, but that didn't help at all.
Then roadside service came and towed her to the nearest dealer, and I'm really, really curious to know what the heck happened!
Once again, I'm SO glad I got the FRPP instead of the more popular aftermarket tunes, because the dealer would more definitely have refused warranty work on the electrical system- blaming any problem on the "illegal" tune!
I never (or at least not yet) had the infamous passenger-side leak, so I know that's not the cause of the problem, and was just wondering if anyone on here had a similar experience?
Sorry for the long post, but I'm a little bummed out that this happened (only 10,200 miles!)- even though the repair will be free.

Are you sure it's not the battery? I had a similar problem recently and had to replace my battery. It drove fine the night before and never had a problem starting up, then one morning last week it won't start all of a sudden. Remote did work at that time and later in the day I got it to start (barely). Next morning I go out and the darn thing won't start again. This time nothing works and I have to use the key to get into my trunk. I took the battery down later that day to have it tested and sure enough the battery was bad.
I suppose it's possible, but in that case why the f*ck didn't my battery gauge read "low"???
It's at the dealer right now, and I'll let you guys know what the problem was when they find out- but I don't see how the 1 1/2 year-old battery could be bad (always garage kept- no frigid winter weather, no skipper 500 or 1000, never left the lights on).

You have a battery gauge? I just have a charging gauge. It tells if the charging system is working, not if the battery is holding a charge. I'm jealous.
Yea, that is the charging gauge, not a battery gauge. I know there is a problem with our cars and the battery draining if left unused to a time. They have a "battery saver" on the cars now, what ever that is. Sounds like the battery, but why could you not "jump" start it? Would Love to know that the dealer says.

Yep, you're right- that is just a "charging" gauge (bummer!).
The dealer explained that to me this afternoon when I dropped by.
They told me the battery was dead and defective and put in a new (better!) one, but want to keep her there till they find out exactly why she died (just defective, or perhaps a short somewhere that was draining power?) so that it doesn't happen again!
I'll let you folks know the verdict as soon as they tell me.
Long live my warranty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. I did try to jump-start it but it didn't work at all, but they jump-started it at the dealers the next morning and it did for them.
I'm hopeless when it comes to fixing anything myself- but at least I know it, and that keeps me from breaking **** and leaving repairs to those more qualified (which is just about everyone on the planet...).
Turn off your Shaker System before turning off the key. They are well known to drain the battery, mine did it twice before I started turning it off, never had a problem since.
Problem solved: defective battery!
The dealer installed a new (and better-than-factory) one, tested everything for power drain just to make sure everything was A-O.K., then did the airbag recall thingy- and she was good to go.

I'm not sure about the Shaker system being a drain on the battery. Although, I have read that on here several times. I know it's not true on my personal car.
I have the Shaker 1000 and leave it all on the time before turning off the car. It hasn't caused a dead battery, in the 31 months I've owned the Mustang.
My car is rarely driven, too. Probably two days out of the the month. I've put about 9,600 miles on it since I purchased it new the first week in January 2006 and only 2,300 miles in the last year. I average about 300 miles per month.
