Default What to use to remove Tape residue? (rear badge)

i recently removed the rear decklid badge and we all know that u need fishing line and all that jazz to remove it...well, after removing it and getting off ALL the reamining black foam double sided tape i could, there is still a lot of sticky black residue left...what can i use to remove the rest of that without damaging the paint too much?

Goo Gone works wonders. Give that a shot.

+1 on goo gone; or take a blow dryer on high heat to the spots where the tape is then use alcohol

Alcohol, kerosene, gas or any other decent solvent if you don't have the goo gone or similar stuff. Don't rub hard. Let the solvent soften it up first.

I say you should use some steel wool :P lol JK! But really Home Depot sells this orange citrus stuff that works wonders. Like mentioned above let the solvent do the work.

goo gone is the best. once you buy it you'll use it on about anything you find sticky

Lighter fluid (naphtha) always works for me.

their website didn't say anything about an automotive type (but if there is one i would use that); the regular stuff says it is safe to use on practically anything, so I would guess the regular kind would be fine to use. and, like nuke said, "Don't rub hard. Let the solvent soften it up first."; what you are trying to remove comes off a lot easier if you let the stuff sit on it for a bit
