Does '07 GT + FRPP HO S/C = GT 500 performance
#21
the aluminum 4.6 is 200 pounds lighter than the 5.4 iron block, so you should blow it away in the corners if you lower your car, versus a non lowered stock GT 500. The Ford techs at my dealership say my car is faster off the line as well. I have not driven a gt 500 but it makes sense with the weight penalty. Also there is no reason at all to go above 3.55 limited slip with a blown car. I can smoke the tires in first and then continue smoking in second. Its WONDERFUL, so do the HO S/C kit.

If your wondering what a full bolt on GT500 can do with good suspension check the numbers below.
I'm as heavy as a GT500 (done no weight reduction). The numbers below were before I ported the blower and changed the fuel system.
The GT500 with a pulley idler and overdrive balancer will make over 560rwhp. Cam it and port and polish the heads your in the 600 territory! Spray the Eaton and your in the 700 rwhp range.
Swap a 2.8L Mammoth on it and........I'll let you know soon
The reallity is I've had both motors in my car. The 4.6L with a KB running 480rwhp and the 5.4L Gt500 motor making about the same initialy with tune, a few bolt ons and idler. The GT500 motor is way stronger. You can't make up for the extra cubes or the 4v design.
Just my .02

I ran 3 GT500s in one day at my track. One was stock, one had pulley tune and headers the last one had a pully and a tune.
They were 0 for 3 that day. The fastest Gt500 run was 11.90 I cranked offf an 11.47, 11.42 and 11.46
So you can easily build a Mustang GT to compete with or beat a GT500. Yes you can put a Stage III KB kit on a GT500 and make big numbers for sure but the original question was can you make a GT perform with or beat a stock GT500. Easily!
While you all MAY need some suspension to hook up, keep in mind my car has 100% stock suspension and my 60s are consistently in the 1.60s. So telling people here to go out and buy a bunch f BMR stuff before they even see how they hook up is jumping the gun some.
Add your Whipple then get some sticky tire (not Nittos) see how the car hooks up.
If you need to change suspension parts , change them one piece at a time so you can see the result of each modification.
Also I respect the opinion above but you can compensate for the difference between the iron 5.4 and aluminum 4.6 with boost. JPC is seeing 1000 RWHP on a 4.6 aluminator!

Well I have two different sets of tires but the ones I currently run at the track are ET Steet bias-ply 17" on stock rims. I also have ET Street radials in 305/45/18 which hook better than anything I have ever used but I have not tested them at the track yet.
When i run bias-ply Mickeys my worst 60 is like 1.65 or so.The 305s are 28.8" diameter tires, so they will change the gear ratio from 3.73 (on 27" tires) to an estimated 3.60 ratio. My numers are over 500 RWHP with 12 PSI and I dont really believe in comparing dyno numbers so wont get in to that.
I have matched up witha GT500 on the street also and results were similar. I think they are great cars, would love to own one , but I went the modded GT route because I would not pay dealer ADM.
I have an automatic and launch between 2200-2600 RPM ona foot-brake stall.

I have two pretty loaded friends, one is the youngest gt500 owner in the world, he just turned 16, and the other kid's dad owns a dealership and he works for his vortech charged gt. The Gt500 has your basic upgrades, air intake, magnaflow axlebacks etc..
But the GT has the vortech charger, new driveshaft, hurst shifter and he runs in the tens to elevens...the Gt500 won't even touch that

I'm with drbobvrs, the GT has a MUCH lighter block (I've heard 130 lbs! iron vs alum) over the GT500. All that weight is over the front wheels.
I'd MUCH rather have a car with a good deal less hp and <130 lbs + over the front wheels unless you're just a drag racer.
Ack sorry didn't read all the posts but 130-200 lbs!!
An aluminator 3V heads with forged internals, Marcus. 700+whp and you will KILL an iron block GT500 on a road course (and probly even on the dragstrip too!)
I'd love to see your whipped 4.6 with that setup!
