That's what I was thinking. As long as I'm hooking, I must be doing it long enough. The last one I didn't spin much (upped the 2step), but it bogged more. It's just going to take some playing with both to get it dialed in.

The first run was 4000RPMs and 23psi.
The 2nd run was 4500RPMs and 20psi.
The 3rd run was 4900RPMs and 20psi.

As for gears, I'm waiting on that until I get nitrous and cams next spring, to see what I'm trapping at, before I decide on what gear set to go with. As I said, I'm really trying to hit 12's with the 3.31's. AM4.6, you have 3.55's. Makes a bit of a difference. Don't know where you live, but elevation may be a factor as well.

The burnout really feels like I'm holding it forever, lol. But I'm not getting much spin, so I believe I'm doing it long enough. There's plenty of smoke and I'm using 2nd.

The 2 Step is from MSD. It's called the MSD Launch Master. For more information, here's my write-up:

o ok your using second gear, didn't realize.

and yes. 3.55's do make a difference over 3.31's. probably as much as 2-3 tenths even. and yes, my track is at sea level. so add that up too lol

don't worry......the mickey thompsons won't spin. what PSI do you have them at? they will chirp at most from 1-2.

and oh yea you can take those m/ts down to at least 15 psi. you'll hook even better haha.

Well it sounds like your on the right path.

A little wheel spin on the line isn't alway a bad thing. It does help get your wheel speed up. We always want our SSO car to make a revolution or two before it hooks so we have enough wheel speed. However, you'll only be able to see this in slow motion on a camera in most cases. It's that edge between shaking the tires and getting a good launch. However, if you can hear it in your car it's probably too much.

You may be real close to the combination you want. Next time have some one video the car at an angle and focus on the back wheel (you may want to mark them to make it more visible). Then tweak it from there.

However, your final run was your best across the board. It may have felt like it bogged because the tires hooked hard. Your 60' looks much better even with the lower trap speed you ran a better time. Don't think because your MPH were down it bogged, I'm gonna watch again but I thought you left harder the last time.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the advise guys. I'll put that to use next time out. I know that a little spin is good, so that's why I hadn't gone down any further in tire pressure. Hopefully I can get more runs in next time and can't try a lot more stuff.
