Default Has anyone driven without mufflers?

I mean have any of you just taken your mufflers off to see what it sounds like? Im just worried that the over axle pipe looks like it kinda points near the bumper and am worried about the heat. Have any of you done this......I dont want to melt the bumper but I so curious to see how much louder it will sound. Thanks

The bumpers are pretty good at taking heat..my GT takeoff pipe almost touches the bumper and it has not harmed it in any way... I would love to see what a GT sounds like with no mufflers tho so if anyone has a youtube clip...POSTIT!!

i drove around for about 2-3 months with just the pipes boucing around....

(i had no money for exhaust but coulnt stand the stock sound)
no problems with bumper warping or anything like that, just a loud *ping* everytime u hit a bump
i dont recommend it but i felt it was necessary haha

Never done it but most anyone who has tried it didnt like it. Its not quite like the LMs would be. Alot less refined and harsh is what i have heard most people say.

Had a friend go to a muffler shop & had them eliminate the mufflers. He put straight pipes and had tips welded on. Looks almost stock, but the sound improved quite a bit. I thought it sounded pretty good! They also charged him $50 bucks, which is quite a bit les than the SLP LM's....

If you removed the mufflers then you're eliminating the rear support for the over axle pipes.

don't worry about heat. by the time your exhaust gets to the rear of the car, it's very cool (even without mufflers). A tell tale sign of how cool it is, is that you that hold your hand on the muffler while the car's running.
