Default Removed them stupid clips today!!!

I finally had time to take my wheels off and look for those clips on the lugs that were supposed to be removed by Ford. I had endured a vibrating sound for several months and I just figured I needed new tires. So, I was changing my oil today, and while I had the jack out, I went around and checked all four wheels. I had two of them on the rear passenger side and one on the rear driver's side. I was elated when I found that they were there, because I was sure that removing them would create an improvement in the ride.

After finishing the oil change and getting all of the wheels on and tightened, I took her out and I couldn't believe the difference. How could they have left these things on?!?!?

Do you have stock or aftermarket wheels? I was thinking about removing the clips, but all the threads I had read dealt with aftermarket wheels.

I took off the front two wheels to see if they were there (they were) but I just pushed them a little more on to the lug and it actually did help the vibration a little.

I have after market wheels but I have a slight vibration so I think that I had better check mine as well.

Any more info about this? Does it affect only certain years?

Those are clips that are put on each rotor to
hold it in place while the car is on the production
line before the calipers are placed.

They don't affect stock wheels, but once you
upgrade to aftermarket wheels, they might cause
some vibration.

Just take them off. If nothing else, do it over several days. It doesn't take that long to jack up one corner and remove a tire and rip off the clip and reinstall the tire. Just plan on maybe 15 or 20 minutes. Do this 4 times on 4 different days if you want.

Just do it!

I'm glad I knew about this thing now, because
I'm putting on my new wheels on Friday, so I'll
just remove the clips then.

Come on... just do it if you're thinking about it

Everyone's doing it

Yeah, I went from stock 17s to AM DD 18s without removing the clips - after about 5 miles I got irritated and turned back home to take off the clips. Been clip-less ever since, and the car rides awesome!!!

where are these clips are they easy to see when the wheels are off? I have not taken my wheels off to inspect anything yet but I do have some vibration on the highway.
