Nightmare!!!
My Silver Horse Racing louvers came in today at 10 and I was pumped. I got out the tools, read the directions to a T and then started the process. Got the interior panels out then tapped off the windows (Even used more tape then requested). Then it all went down hill......I used the windshield removal kit that came with them and it was soooo darn hard to get the cutting wire through the window. Well I started on the passenger side because I read somewhere that someone scratched the paint on the first louver they tried. Well I was using a flat head at one point to help grab the wire and I slipped, and scratched a 1-1.5" groove below the window. I was pissed but I moved on.....
Finaly got the window out about 2 hours after starting the process so I mocked up the new louver. F@#@.....Its a shade or two darker then the rest of the car (Ordered pre painted-Tungsten). Well now I called my paint guy because he rocks and has matched several pieces for my car in the past. I wanted to see if he could fit me in before my car show next month to repaint the louvers and fix the scratch. No answer because its Sat. Well I move on to the drivers side window. Well here is the worst part.... Im trying to get the wire through the window and POP!!!!!!!! glass shatteres directly into both my eyes!!!! Soooo fast didnt have time to even blink. Girlfriend called 911 they brough some eye wash and I washed out for several minutes. I then drove to the ER and the doc told me that I have small particles of glass in my eye so he rewashed again (Had to stick something like a contact in my eye with a tube attached) I left there and have to go for follow up in 2 more days.
I get back home and try to get the window out but now there is shattered glass attached to the sealant around the rim. I gave up and am going to wait till my paint guy calls back and have him finish the job
I know this could have been prevented by using safety goggles, but I didnt have any around and I was in a rush. Will never work without them again though.
Now I have a car with no back windows, a bent axel, a broken chin spoiler (another topic and post) and It has to be fixed in a month

tomb, where did you poke the wire through? I tried near the back clip and had a hard time getting at it. My needle nose wouldnt fit into that litte gap between the window and body... You want pic here they are. Well I dont know how to post normal pics anymore so here is alittle dinky thumb.

Wow...there are so many lessons here for us all. Sorry bro.
Should have stopped at "the scratch"!
Hey...get the eye followed up even if you feel better. Having micro glass particles on your cornea is no joke.

I am almost, almost glad to hear someone else has as much problems as
I do with mods. I was begining to think I had been cursed.
Sorry for the probs and glad to hear you had a way to get to the hospital.
Kinda like installing muffler components by yourself without jackstands and
using a $5 wal.mart jack that fails right after you put your cell phone on
the charger out of arms reach......
Stupid, but someone has to learn from our mistakes.
I wear glasses but I will make it a point to wear full eye protection if I
try and tackle SHR louvers by myself in the future.
