Default weird transmission problem

hey guys heres the situation. I let my buddy drive my car (stupid) and he grinded the gear shifting into second. well ever since then it has been acting weird on me. the shifting is kinda notchy and simply put, not smooth. also i can feel EVERY bump on the road through my shifter. i mean every bumb, pothole, grove. The shifter moves with the bumps in the road now. weird isnt it? does anyone know what this could be?

hmmm, I don't know if that would manage to mess up the tranny... but you might wanna take it to the shop just to check... and if anything's wrong make your buddy pay for it

how serious did he grind the gears? and how many times? I would say either take it to a Ford dealership or a Mustang performance shop and get a second opinion.

One gear grind? No way...

My wife ground on my Accord for 12 years and I sold it off to some kid running like a top. She seemed to find the wrong gear about 2500 times. Maybe more.

I dunno, he shifted into second and it sounded pretty bad. I've done it once before when I first got it. I dunno if its from that but like i said the shifter moves with every bump in the road, it used to be still all the time right? I dunno maybe its just me but i sware it wasnt like this lol.

I have missed 3rd a few times (haven't got my MGW yet) and for some time now, my shifter has been vibrating and I also feel all the bumps in the road through the shifter. I can't seem to pinpoint it, but I'm thinking it could be a torn (leaking) motor mount or something in the clutch or trans input shaft?

It sounds like the 2nd gear synchro might be trashed. It was probably on its way out but that last grind put it over the edge. You'll probably need the synchro, gear and slider replaced.

As for the shifter moving, mine has always done that. If there is a dip in the road, the shifter will move a little with the dip. It wasn't too noticeable with the facory shifter but was a lot more noticeable with the MGW and is still very noticeable with the Hurst. You may just be so sensitive to things now because of the grinding that you just now noticed it.
