Gears...

UDP's help but it's no where near as noticeable as gears on the butt-dyno.

In his case, the 4.10's were too much for his drive to work everyday.

I am the "friend" he is talking about. I would NOT recommend 4.10s for the automatic. Howarmat tried to warn me, but I listened to others that said it was better. As Cameron said, I am MUCH happier with the 3.73s. The 3.73s in auto are similiar to 4.10s in a manual. Hence, 4.10s in an auto are comparable to 4.30s in a manual due to the different transmission ratios.

And I am the friend who told him to go with 3:73's right out of the gate!

Your fuel economy won't necessarily drop with 4.10's. If you do mostly driving under 60mph, it will probably go up.

I have 3.73's in my auto and love them. FWIW, most people say 3.73's in an auto and 4.10's in a manual
