Default Dead Battery TSB?

I went to go get in my car this morning and my remote wasn't working. I knew the battery was dead but went to go start the car anyways, and of course nothing happens. I have a 2008 GT with no electrical mods and I had just driven it friday (3 days ago). I didn't leave the lights on or anything else. I have seen a couple of dead battery posts over the last couple of months on the forum, but I can't find the TSB list now that we are using this new format. Is there a TSB out for dead batteries, or anyone else know how I should go about handling this? I went out and jumped my car and drove around for 20 minutes and now the battery is charged. Should I just not worry about it, or should I tell the stealership?

I had that problem with mine. Battery was probably 95% shot, I had just enough juice to finally get it to turn over and start. I took my car to the dealer the next day and they replaced the battery for free since it was in warranty. You could do the same thing most likely.

Default Dead Battery - Shaker Radio

I too had the dead battery problem with my 2006 GT, it happened twice in a few months, the car was just over a year old. After research here and elsewhere is seems to be the Shaker system drawing current when the car was left - but only if you turn it off with the key or door opening. Since this I've always turned of the Shaker first, then ignition key. I've not had a problem in 8 months (original battery), the car has also been left for up to 10 days while I'm away, as well as other times as I often ride my cycle to work.

I can't guarantee it's the Shaker, but I'd be very, very, surprised if it's not. I hope this helps you.

Andy

Thanks Andy! I'll try to remember to turn the skipper 500 off when I leave the car.

Whoever is still having battery issues....... The hard fact is we have to live with it. I have a 2005 Mustang GT and been fighting with Ford for over a year. The car has a definate defect but since they have money to back them, this is how they beat me. I do not drive the car enough to charge the battery. It's the most absurd thing I have heard in my life. So don't let your car sit for more than a few days that's their solution. I will never buy another Ford!!!!!!

evans, make sure you always turn your radio off before you get out of the car. its the stereo system draining the battery.

Update 10-8-08.

I just returned from 16 days away on vacation and tried my '06 GT. It started almost instantly. It's the original battery, all I've done is not leave the Shaker on when I turn off the ignition. I'm still almost certain it's a radio problem not a battery problem.

Thanks,
I shut everything off now before getting out of the car. My issue was with ford is that I bought this car without having to worry about it going dead after a couple of weeks. And I actually took them to court fought for a year. And to tell me I have to drive it more and that it is my fault the car dies. This is completely crazy. My 2005 GT has 6000, miles on it and is show room condition. I like the car it's ford who can get away with this crap. It's not right that the consumer that keeps them in business cannot win a legitamate fight. I will never buy another ford.

It makes me mad that you cannot use the features that comes equipped with a new car. Trust me Ford will not stand up for this flaw...... stating new cars have some amount of draw on the electrical system even when sitting. None of my friends who have new cars that are not Fords have this problem as Ford says. Good Luck to all my fellow Mustang lovers.
